Although countries such as Brazil, United Kingdom and Australia have produced their fair share of classic muscle cars; America is considered to be the undisputed king of classic muscle cars. So what is a classic muscle car? Not all car enthusiasts agree on the muscle car definition, but we consider it to be a high-horsepower coupe with an occupancy greater than 2 people. “Classic” is also a relative term. Although we included a few muscle car models that spanned into the 1980’s, we consider a true classic muscle car to originate from the 1950’s through the 1970’s. The late 1960’s to early 1970’s were the golden age of the classic muscle car in our opinion as it was prior to oil crisis initiated horsepower reductions and at the height of the muscle car manufacturers one-upmanship.
